City of Trees Animal Hospital is the culmination of a lifelong dream for Dr. Matt. His veterinary career started in February of 2000, when he began as a kennel assistant in Lodi. After attending San Joaquin Delta College, he completed a Bachelor in Biology at UC Santa Barbara in 2010. In 2012 he was accepted into UC Davis Veterinary School bringing him back to his Central Valley roots. Over the next decade, Dr. Matt worked as a general and emergency veterinarian in Stockton, Lodi, and Sacramento. In the Spring of 2023, he founded Hard Luck Animal Welfare Advocates, a nonprofit that partners with the City of Stockton to handle the animals’ veterinary care. He also founded City of Trees Animal Hospital in 2023 and built his dream hospital to provide quality care for the animals in his community.
He lives down the street with his wife Carolyn, daughter, 5 dogs, 1 cockatiel, and a rotating menagerie of other creatures.
The human-animal bond is so special and so unique, we aim to honor and grow that bond in all that we do. Everything we do is rooted in compassion for those we serve.
